Bob is the founding and managing member of KAP Architecture LLC in Champaign, Illinois with 25+ years of experience working with clients of various sizes and types.  

• Philosophy that focuses on the clients needs to have a visually aesthetic and functional product while meeting the bottom line required for the project.
• Commitment to producing quality design and detailed construction drawings consistently satisfy both the owner and regulatory needs resulting in a more efficient and faster transition from the construction document phase to construction phase.
• Experience.  Prior to founding KAP Architecture LLC, Bob managed the architecture division of a large architecture/engineering firm.  His previous experience with this firm, brings a strong knowledge of incorporating MEP design and functions with architectural elements as he develops plans for his current projects.

He earned both a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He holds NCARB (National Council Architectural Registration Boards) certification. Kapolnek's professional affiliations include American Institute of Architects, the International Code Commission and The Construction Specification Institute.  His licensed to practice architecture in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky and Minnesota.

Bob grew up in the Chicago area but has lived in the Champaign-Urbana area since graduating from the University of Illinois.  He is an avid Illini, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.  

Craig Gillett is a senior architect at KAP Architecture, LLC in Champaign, Illinois and has over fifteen years of experience as a project manager including multi-family residential projects in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, Texas and Illinois with total construction value of over $200,000,000.  Other specialties include institutional facilities in both the public and private sectors and commercial buildings.

Craig is responsible for leading the architecture design and production team at KAP Architecture in Champaign, Illinois. 

• Extensive experience, creativity and problem solving skills are essential to KAP projects starting with the initial land planning schemes, code review, schematic design through construction documents and managing the construction phase.
• Craig has special expertise on the ever-evolving building codes and other regulations required for multi-family and commercial design resulting in a faster and more efficient permitting process. 
• He also has prior experience working in an architecture/engineering firm bringing with him a strong understanding of incorporating MEP design with architectural design.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Gillett is a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) BD+C accredited professional.  His professional affiliations include American Institute of Architects and he is licensed in the state of Illinois.
