Bob Kapolnek founded KAP Architecture, LLC in August 2008, and brings 38 years of experience in various sectors, including education/institution, multi family housing, commercial offices, and healthcare.
Bob's philosophy? Focus on high-quality design that meets owner and regulatory needs for efficient design-to construction transitions.
Kapolnek obtained a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is certified by NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) and is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the International Code Commission, and The Construction Specification Institute.
Bob grew up in the Chicago area but has resided in the Champaign-Urbana region since graduating from the University of Illinois. He passionately supports the Illini, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs. He is honing his baking skills in bagels and sourdough bread
Craig Gillett is a senior architect/project manager at KAP Architecture, LLC in Champaign, Illinois and has over 20 years of experience as a project manager including multi-family residential projects in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, Texas and Illinois with total construction value of over $500,000,000. Other specialties include institutional facilities in both the public and private sectors and commercial buildings.
Craig is responsible for leading the architecture design and production team at KAP Architecture in Champaign, Illinois.
Craig has specialized knowledge of the constantly changing building codes and regulations. This expertise leads to a quicker and more efficient permitting process. Additionally, Craig has previously worked in an architecture and engineering firm, giving him a strong understanding of how to integrate MEP design with architectural design.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a LEED BD+C (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) accredited professional. Gillett is affiliated with the American Institute of Architects and is licensed to practice in the state of Illinois.
Craig loves to watch sci-fi TV shows and movies with his wife, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with their adult children. Their dog, Penny, keeps him on the move. He also has a passion for music, with Rush being his favorite band; he frequently attends concerts featuring Rush tribute bands. Additionally, Craig enjoys playing online video games with his friends weekly
